Citazione1)E-Mule has lost a great amount of users in the last years which have moved to other p2p (torrent firstly). Which are, in your opinion, the causes for that and how is going to be in the future?

The eMule Network is designed to preserve a huge file diversity over long time spans this however causes the network to be slow in comparation to Bittorrent.
A huge amount of P2P traffic is made up from actual content like US TV Episodes or actual Movies.
With Bittorrent a average user can get a mainstream file almost in less time that it takes to consume the content. Its simply more efficient to use BT for such stuff.
What Bittorrent misses greatly is a keyword search feature. So that users are Dependant on link sites, like TPB. This centralized aspect of the BT Network is its week point, depending on global legislation (see ACTA: http://www.edri.org/...lizing-to-stop) this sites can go down and cause the entire network to stop.
Such thing cant happen with eMule thanks to KAD there is no need for central sites and no prominent targets to get aim.
An other competition to eMule and BT alike are one click hosters like Rapidshare they provide the legal security for downloaders thats so urgently needed.

I think that in future hosters will gain more and more ground against Bittorrent. If BT does not implement a network wide keyword search it may even on the long run become suppressed entirely.
eMule in contrary due to its long term file detention property and its ability to find files with nothing more than the client and a part of a file name will have a permanent place in the Filesharing landscape though its wont most likely become mainstream again.

Citazione2)The MOD are certainly fuller of functions in confront of the official version. However, these are still a marginal aspect of eMule. How come?

The average users dont need functions they only want to download and ain't interested in the network or releasing stuff.

Citazione3)The MOD scene become more conformed lately, probably because some developers enforce functions of most in vogue's versions up till making their product similar to a kind of collage. This, in your opinion, is a good or bad thing? And why?

4)Considering the amount of MOD in circulation at the moment,(as developer) did you ever take account of the hypothesis of grouping together and developing only ¾ of MOD making all of them different from each other, but in the same time enclosing all the various current features and other innovations?

3) & 4) There are only so much features that can be thought of and implemented and the most of them ware already exhausted. The Mod scene of eMule is still far to diversified. Instead of heaving mods chasing after each other and a main client stalling for a year without updates. The power of the mod developers should be much more incorporated into the development of the official client. Especially usefull variuse features present in some mods (like Nat-Traversal) should be incorporated into the main client. The separation between mods and the main client should be deminished.
The mod landscape should go more in the direction of a few Mainstream mods and much less small mods.

Citazione5)Do you think that would be a good idea to leave the Server and concentrate all the attention to Kademlia to educate this part of users or it's better, according to you, to wait for a more appropriate moment and permit them to get closer gradually?

Yes, servers as central points of failure should be abolished. Following the current trends in legislation the only workable way is a fully decentralized network.

Citazione6)Which are the strengths and news of your MOD/MODS?

Neo is still the most innovative mod ever made, though its amount of new settings being around 1000 exits the abilities of most average users. Its most important features are the various protocol extensions especial the Nat-Traversal feature the Sub Chunk Transfer the Voodoo interface and the Source Storage System.
There ware not much news lately cause I'm considering the mod to be more or less perfect, so tha next news you'l hear will be an update to the next official eMule base if such comes.

Citazione7)How did your passion for development of E-mule start and how long have you been practicing this interest?

I started to develop Neo for my personal use, but as I put more and more time in it I wanted others to be able to benefit from all this work as well. I started like 6 or 7 years ago but the last 2 years I didn't head much time.

Citazione8)Many users complaint about too many fakes and porno films. Do you agree with us that trying to completely embank this problem should be a priority?

Well fakes are a problem, legal adoult porno isn't as long as its labeled as such.
There are other aspects that need more attention like implementing Nat-Traversal in official client.
Or starting to implement darknet abilities to make eMule safe again to use.

Citazione9)Seeing that the pedopornography flooding on internet and various p2p, wouldn't be advisable to create a function, in eMule, able to point out that kind of files to the competent authorities or to specific websites which collect such signalling like www.stop-it.org? This would be an innovation for eMule and maybe also an example for other p2p to which hark back to.

Pedopornography is a problem that does not origins in the web. When this junk gets its way into the web the main crime already happend and the goal should be to prevent this in the first place instead of trying to hide it after the fact. Just look on the recent discussion in get german goverment about internet filtering... Censorship is never a solution.

Come mai?
